If you find importing confusing or if you have any trouble at all simply get an expert to import for you.
How long does an import take?
After you've confirmed the import, the actual importing time can vary between 1 minute to a few hours. This is entirely based on how much data (usually in attachments) you have in Todoist as well as Todoist's rate limits.
We'll send you an email as soon as your import is done.
Before you get started:
Create a Space or Spaces to house your Todoist projects (and subprojects if you have them!)
Then, import your Todoist projects into the Spaces you've created.
If you're unfamiliar with the way ClickUp's hierarchy works, please see our documentation here.
How to start an Import from Todoist?
Note: You must be an admin or owner on your team in order to perform an import.
- Go to
- Click the
Todoisttab and click Import
- Authorize ClickUp to import your tasks on Todoist's website
- Boom! You're ready to start importing steps...
After authorizing ClickUp to import your Todoist data, you'll be presented 3 steps.
Step 1: Import Tasks
On the left side, you'll see all projects from Todoist.
On the right side, is how you're mapping Todoist projects as ClickUp Projects, by selecting a ClickUp Space.
- Choose which Todoist Projects you would like to import
- Select the ClickUp Space those Projects will be nested in
Step 2: Import Users
Map Todoist users to ClickUp users in order to preserve assignees, history, and task activity. If you don't map users, the data will still be imported, but will not be synced to a ClickUp user and assignees that aren't mapped to ClickUp will not be preserved.
Note: If you haven't already added users into ClickUp, simple select 'invite by email' to invite and map automatically."
Step 3: Options
Import attachments from Todoist
Most people do want to import attachments from Todoist. If you're on the Free Forever plan and worried about going over your storage limit, then you might want to select 'no' to skip importing attachments.
Import closed tasks from Todoist
This option allows you to import all tasks or just open tasks into ClickUp. Generally, we recommend importing all of your tasks - you can reference all past history and attachments in ClickUp.
Unfortunately, Todoist does not provide a way to calculate how much data is in your attachments, so you'll only know after the import has been completed.
