Billing for guest seats

Invite people from outside your organization as guests so they can collaborate with your team.

Depending on your ClickUp Plan, and what you need each guest to do, they may take a free or a paid guest seat.

On paid Plans, we may charge you for additional member seats in order to give you more paid guest seats.

Free Forever Plan guests

Guests on our Free Forever Plan are always free, and can only have full create and edit permissions.

• You can have an unlimited number of guests on the Free Forever Plan

• You can't set individual permissions for Time Tracking, Time Estimates, Tags, or creating views

• You can't hide Custom Fields from guests

Paid Plan guests

There are two types of guest seats on our paid Plans:

• Free guest seats only have view-only access and can't be part of a Team

  • You can have an unlimited number of free guests on paid Plans

• Paid guest seats can have any permissions and can join Teams

  • The number of paid guest seats varies by Plan

For example, a Workspace on the Unlimited Plan with just the Workspace owner will have 5 paid guests available. If they invite a member, they will have 7 paid guest seats.

A Workspace on the Business Plan with just the Workspace owner will have 10 paid guest seats available. If they invite a member, they'll have 15 paid guest seats.

Billing for paid guest seats

When inviting guests that qualify for a paid guest seat, or adding view-only guests to a Team, one or more new member seats may be added to your Workspace to pay for additional paid guest seats.

You can make a paid guest seat available by:

• Setting a guest's permissions to view-only

• Removing a view-only guest from any Teams

• Removing a guest from your Workspace

Example: An Unlimited Plan Workspace

For example, a Workspace on the Unlimited Plan with just the Workspace owner has already invited 5 guests with Comment permissions. The Workspace owner adds a guest with View-only permissions to a Team.

They take up a paid guest seat, and because there are no paid guest seats available, a new Workspace member seat is added to cover the guest seat.

The Workspace now has 2 member seats and 7 paid guest seats.

Example: A Business Plan Workspace

A Workspace on the Business Plan with just the Workspace owner has already invited 10 guests with Edit permissions. The Workspace owner invites a guest with Comment permissions.

They will take up a paid guest seat, and because there are no paid guest seats available, a new Workspace member seat is added to cover the guest seat.

The Workspace now has 2 member seats and 15 paid guest seats.
