Relationships let you link your tasks, Docs, or just about anything together! Build simple links between tasks in your Workspace or create an advanced database using Relationships between different Lists.
What you'll need
Relationships are available on any ClickUp Plan.
Enable the Relationships ClickApp
Workspace owners and admins can enable the Relationships ClickApp for your Workspace.
To enable Relationships:
Click your Workspace avatar in the lower-left corner.
Browse or search for the Relationships ClickApp.
Click the Relationships ClickApp to enable it.
Note: If you want to go back to the old version of Relationships, called Dependencies, you can turn off the Relationships ClickApp. When you turn off Relationships, we'll keep your data, but you won't be able to see any of the fields unless you turn the feature back on.
There are multiple types of Relationships, depending on your use case:
Task Relationships are the simplest type of Relationship! You can use Task Relationships to link tasks together, and easily keep your work visible. This is great if you want to link tasks that are related, but not necessarily dependent on one another.
When you have a task that requires another task being completed first, you can use the Dependences Relationship to call out blockers. This Relationship is great when you have a clear order that your tasks need to be completed in.
Reference Relationships are created automatically when a task or Doc is linked or mentioned somewhere else. If you've mentioned a task or Doc in a comment, you'll see them added to this table!

The Integrations Relationship lets you easily access external integrations used with your task. In the Relationship field, you can access Github branches, Zendesk tickets, and reference other integrations directly within your task. Once an integration is mentioned or linked in the task, it will automatically appear in the Integrations Relationship table.
Build your own type of relationship using the Custom Relationship Field. This field lets you create simple Lists of tasks anywhere in your Workspace, or more complex database-like relationships where two Lists are linked together.
The Rollup Field displays all corresponding field data related to a task. In your task view, you'll see it as a table built into the right side of your task. Different categories of Relationships will be separated out into rows, and columns can be added to the Rollup Field to include relevant details.
Tip: You can create, customize, and manage Relationships in List view!
Q: If a user has access to a task will they now be able to see all the tasks linked with a Relationship?
A: No. A user must have permission to view a task or Doc in order to see it.
Q: I am using the Rollup Field but I don't see any of my Custom Fields?
A: Right now, we only support Custom Fields when using a Custom Relationship and the link to List option. Visit our article on Relationship Fields to learn more.
Q: Can I include Relationships in an export?
A: We don't currently support exports.
Q: Do Relationships work with subtasks?
A: You can link a subtask using a Custom Relationship, however, it currently won’t work with a List to List relationship.
