With Custom Task IDs, you're able to set IDs like Issue-123
or Sales-123
that automatically increment by 1 with every new task you create.
Custom Task IDs makes it easier to:

Using Custom Task IDs with Integrations
You will be able to use Custom Task IDs with our git integrations. Read more about how to get those set up here:
Note: If you have Tasks in Multiple Lists enabled, tasks that are in multiple Lists have a Home List (the List farthest to the left in task view). When using these integrations, you must link your git repo to the Space that contains the Home List. Linking your repo to a Space that does not contain the Home List will not work. This is true whether you're using a Custom Task ID or a normal ClickUp Task ID.
FAQs
Q: What happens when I move a task from a Space with Custom Task IDs to a Space without Custom Task IDs?
A: You can reference that task with the underlying ClickUp Task ID (which will never change) or the Custom Task ID at any time.
Q: What happens when I move a task from a Space with Custom Task IDs to another Space with different Custom Task IDs?
A: By definition, the two Spaces will have different prefixes. The task will receive a second Custom Task ID from the second Space. You will be able to reference that task with both Custom Task IDs.
Q: What happens when I move a task from a Space without Custom Task IDs to a Space with Custom Task IDs?
A: The task will be assigned to the next available Custom Task ID for that Space. The task will still be able to be referenced with the ClickUp Task ID or the Custom Task ID.
Q: What happens when I want to edit the Prefix of a Space's Custom Task ID?
A: You are able to edit the prefix. When you do, it cannot have the same Prefix as another Space. If you make a mistake, you can change the prefix for a particular Space back to a prefix that was previously assigned to it.
Q: Can I @mention a task by referencing the Custom Task ID?
A: Yes, you can use @@
to search for a Custom Task ID. When the task unfurls, it will show both the Custom Task ID and the Task Name.
Q: Can I link the git repo to any Space?
A: If you have the Tasks In Multiple Lists ClickApp enabled, you must link it to the Space that contains the Home List for the task.
