Mentioning (or "tagging") your Workspace members is the perfect way to bring their attention to items within tasks or a Conversation view!

How to Mention People in a task

As with almost all forms of team communication in ClickUp, mentioning happens within a task's activity feed. To mention a person: 

  1. Begin commenting in a task by typing in the comment or task description area
  2. Type the @ symbol, or click the @ shortcut below the comment field to bring up the person-selector  
  3. Choose desired person (names are prioritized by how often you tag them) or an entire Team


  • When you mention a person in a comment, he or she will automatically become a watcher of that task.  If they are mentioned in the task description, they will not be added as a watcher automatically.
  • When the person views the task, the comment that he or she is mentioned in will be highlighted
  • When people are tagged in a comment, they will see their names highlighted in their notification feeds. If you select notifications for the task description, people will also receive a notification. This helps people identify their most important action items as they scan their notifications.

  1. Begin commenting at the bottom of the view
  2. Type the @ symbol 
  3. Choose desired person

How to Mention People in a Doc View

  1. Type the @ symbol
  2. Choose desired person
  3. Choose to send selected person a notification
