Enabling Toggl

To get started, make sure you have the Toggl Track: Productivity & Time Tracker Chrome extension.

Then, in your ClickUp Workspace, enable the Time Tracking ClickApp for the Spaces where you want to track time. Note that an admin or the Workspace owner must do this.

You should now see the Toggl Track button visible in task view.

If you do not see the Toggl Track button above, that means you need to give Toggl Track approval to access ClickUp. To do this:

  1. Click the Toggl Track button on your Chrome extension
  2. Click the Settings gear icon
  3. Select Integrations on the left sidebar
  4. Search clickup.com in the Filter Integrations search bar, and check the box next to clickup.com
  5. Click Allow

In order for Toggl Track to connect time tracked with the appropriate person, each user will have to set up the integration with their own API key.

To do so, in your ClickUp Workspace, click Settings in your avatar menu, and find Time Tracking in the sidebar.

Start Tracking Time

To start or stop tracking time, simply click this button to start (or stop) tracking time in Toggl Track. Note: you can also start time in ClickUp or on the Toggl Track site if you prefer.

Sync Toggl Track with ClickUp

The awesome thing about the ClickUp + Toggl Track integration is ClickUp can actually automatically sync time tracked in Toggl Track with tasks inside of ClickUp.

You heard me right!

Not only can you start/stop time tracking without leaving ClickUp, but you also can associate time tracked with ClickUp tasks automatically. And we're adding time tracking reporting as we speak.

How to enable syncing with Toggl Track:

  1. Go to Profile Settings on Toggl Track
  2. Click Time Tracking
  3. Click the Toggl Track tab
  4. Go to your Toggl Track profile: https://toggl.com/app/profile
  5. Copy the token from the API Token field
  6. Paste the token into ClickUp

ClickUp also has native time tracking through the ClickUp Chrome Extension.

Please note: Time tracked in ClickUp natively cannot be synced with your Toggl account.

Time logs not showing on a ClickUp task or in reporting? The Toggl timer needs to be started from a specific task window in ClickUp or the task ID will need to be added into a time-log's description to be recorded in your ClickUp Workspace. Otherwise, the Toggl time log will need [#taskID] in its title to sync back.
